Recently, one-horned rhinoceros was killed in Kaziranga National Park of Assam.

    • Declared as a National Park in 1974 and tiger reserve in 2007.

    • Declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.
  • Inhabited by world’s largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses.
  • Vegetation – It ranges from alluvial inundated grasslands to tropical semi-evergreen forests.
  • 6 other national parks in Assam are – Manas National Park, Dibru – Saikhowa National Park, Nameri National Park, Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve (ONPTR), Dehing Patkai National Park, Raimona National Park
  • 4 Tiger Reserves in Assam – Kaziranga, Manas, Nameri and Orang
