Context:
Scientists from Bangladesh and Mauritius joined India’s research vessel ‘SagarNidhi’ for a 35-day joint ocean expedition, a significant maritime collaboration under the Colombo Security Conclave framework.
About Sagar Nidhi:
- An Indian-owned and operated research vessel.
- It is the first Indian flagged research ship that reached the 66°S latitude.
- Used for Deep-Sea mining, oceanographic research conducted within the Indian Ocean region.
About Colombo Security Conclave:
- It is a trilateral maritime security grouping of India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
- Formed in 2011
- Mauritius joined later as a fourth member.
