Experts appealed to IUCN to upgrade Horn of Africa cheetah status to ‘endangered’

  • Region: Horn of Africa (mostly Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia)
  • Also known as: Sudan Cheetah
  • Threats – Trafficking to Arab countries like Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
  • Physical characteristics: resembles East African cheetah- thick and coarse fur, thick tails, facial spotting varies from dense to relatively thin
  • IUCN Status: Vulnerable

Drug has been approved by Drug Controller General of India.

  • Cannabis based drug for epilepsy
  • Contains tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content below 0.1%.
  • THC – active ingredient of cannabis.
  • Cannabis in India under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in 1985 –
    • Sale and production of cannabis resin and flowers is prohibited
    • Use of leaves and seeds of is permitted

Indian Navy unveiled Drishti 10 Starliner.

  • India’s 1st indigenously manufactured Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)
  • An advanced intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) platform.
  • Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAV
  • Payload capacity – 450 kg
  • Only all-weather military platform with NATO’s STANAG 4671 certifications for UAV system’s airworthiness.

WHO’s International Classification of Diseases 11 (ICD-11) now introduces Module 2 (ICD 11 TM 2)

  • ICD – International standard for systematic recording, reporting, analysis, interpretation, and comparison of mortality and morbidity data.
  • Includes a dedicated chapter on traditional medicine.
  • ICD-11 Module-1 – covers traditional medicine conditions originating in ancient China (now commonly used in Japan, Korea etc.)
  • Module 2 under ICD 11 – dedicated to Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani (ASU) data and terminology.
