Incidents of Doxxing are increasing over internet.
- Doxxing – Collection of a user’s private information, across multiple platforms (including social media) by an unauthorized individual and then publishing the information in an attempt to embarrass user.
- Conducted by – Researching public databases, hacking, or through social engineering.
Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission
Recently, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) has issued a drug safety alert over the use of the anti-inflammatory drug Nimesulide.

- Function –
- Update regularly the standards of drugs.
- Publishes Indian Pharmacopoeia which prescribes standards for identity, purity and strength of drugs

Whooping Cough
Number of cases of whooping cough have been rising in China.
- Highly contagious respiratory tract infection.
- Caused by – Bordetella pertussis bacteria.
- It is only found in humans.
- Spread easily from person to person through the air.
- Prevention – In India, Mission Indradhanush provides immunization protection against Whooping Cough.
KUSH
Sierra-leone (West African country) has recently declared a national emergency following the craze behind the psychoactive drug, KUSH.
- It is a narcotic drug first appeared in Sierra Leone in 2018.
- It is made from a variety of toxic substances including human bones.
- The drug gives a hypnotic high that can last several hours.
National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA)
NPPA revises ceiling prices of over 800 scheduled drug formulations recently.
- An independent regulator responsible for fixing and regulating the prices of pharmaceutical products in the country.
- Established in – 1997
- Operates under – Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.
- Mandate – Regularly monitors the prices of pharmaceutical products and takes necessary actions to control any unjustified price hikes.
