Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) endorse the Australia-funded Pacific Policing Initiative (PPI).

  • An intergovernmental organisation formed in 1971.
  • Member countries – Consists of 18 member states located in the Pacific region.
  • Aim –
    • To push for economic growth, enhance political governance and security for the region.
    • Aims for a resilient Pacific region of peace, harmony, security, social inclusion
    • Decisions are implemented by – Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.
  • Pacific Resilience Facility (PRF) – A regional financing facility established by PIF
    • It aims to push for economic growth, enhance political governance and security for the region, and strengthen regional cooperation.
  • Objective – To elevate the law enforcement capabilities of Pacific nations, ensuring they are better equipped to handle law and order challenges and internal security threats.
  • PPI aligns with the Pacific Islands Forum’s 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent
