Singapore rules out hosting the commonwealth games (CWG) of 2026.

  • It takes place every 4 years.
  • Members of Commonwealth Nations along with overseas territories, island states also participate in this.
  • Managed by – Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) [London, England]
  • Earlier known as – British Empire Games
  • Held for 1st time in Canada in 1930.
  • Responsibilities of CGF –
    • Direction and control of the Commonwealth Games
    • Delivering the vision of the Commonwealth Sports Movement: through sport, we build peaceful, sustainable and prosperous communities across the Commonwealth.
  • Group of countries which were mostly former British colonies.
  • Established by – London Declaration in 1949
  • However, presently other members can also join it.
  • India is a member.
