A new species of forest-dwelling horned frog found from Talle Wildlife Sanctuary has been named after the dominant Apatani community in Arunachal Pradesh
Apatani Tribe:
- Living in – Ziro valley in Arunachal Pradesh.
- Language – Tani
- Religion – Worship the sun and the moon.
- Major festivals – Dree, Myoko, Yapung and Murung.
- Occupation – Mostly practises integrated rice-fish farming in their mountain terraces of Arunachal Pradesh
- Principally use 3 rice varieties – Emeo, Pyape and Mypia.
Talle Wildlife Sanctuary:
- Location – Arunachal Pradesh.
- A bio-diversity hotspot
- Rivers – Pange, Sipu, Karing and Subansiri
- Vegetation – Sub-tropical and alpine forests.
- Fauna – Clouded leopard, Himalayan squirrel, Himalayan Black Bear etc.
