NECCE & NFECS

National Curriculum for Early Childhood Care and Education (NECCE) and a National Framework for Early Childhood Stimulation (NFECS) launched

  • Launched by – Ministry of Women and Child Development
  • Aim- To complement National Education Policy 2020
  • Provisions will also be included on – Poshan Tracker
  • Target group – Children from 3 to 6 years.
  • Aim – To improve the quality of early childhood care transacted at the Anganwadi Centre by prioritizing competency-based lesson plans and activities, presented in a simple and user-friendly manner.
  • Covers – All domains of development as per the National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage 2022 including physical/motor, cognitive, language and literacy, socioemotional, cultural/aesthetic as well as positive habits.
  • Other significance –
    • Special focus for inclusion of Divyang children in every activity
    • Focus on community engagement and a continuum of home learning activities.
  • Target Group- Children from birth to 3 years
  • Aim – To empower caregivers and Anganwadi Workers for holistic early stimulation and optimal development of children.
  • National Institute for Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) – Training of Anganwadi functionaries on the new Curriculum and Framework will be led by NIPCCD
  • Directive Principles of State Policy (DPSP) – Article 45 directs that ” State shall endeavour to provide ECCE for all children until they complete the age of 6 years”.
  • Fundamental RightsArticle 21 A provides for free and compulsory education to children aged between 6 and 14
  • Fundamental Duties – Article 51 A directs the parent or guardian to provide opportunities for education to his child or ward between the age of 6 and 14 years.
