Context:
Building on its search and AI experience, Google rolled a new experiment in India for people to experience Gen AI in Google Search.
About Gen AI:
- Generative AI refers to deep-learning models that can generate high-quality text, images, and other content based on the data they were trained on.
- Gen AI is capable of producing highly realistic and complex content that mimics human creativity, making it a valuable tool for many industries such as gaming, entertainment, and product design.
- Some Generative AI-based tools –
- Chat GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer)
- Midjourney
- DALL-E
- DeepBrain
- Synthesia
- Bing Chat
- Bard
About Artificial General Intelligence (AGI):
- Artificial general intelligence (AGI) is the representation of generalized human cognitive abilities in software so that, when faced with an unfamiliar task, the AGI system can find a solution.
- The intention of an AGI system is to perform any task that a human being is capable of.
- AGI is considered to be a strong artificial intelligence (AI).
- Existing artificial intelligence capabilities are referred to as narrow AI when compared with artificial general intelligence.
- AGI is theoretical, whereas narrow AI is in practical use today.
Narrow AI – refers to the goal-oriented version of AI designed to better perform a single task such as tracking weather updates, generating data science reports by analyzing raw data, or playing games such as poker, chess, etc. IBM’s Watson supercomputer, expert systems and self-driving cars are examples of narrow AI.
Strong artificial intelligence (strong AI) is an artificial intelligence construct that has mental capabilities and functions that mimic the human brain.

1. | Belle II experiment | Artificial Intelligence |
2. | Blockchain technology | Digital/Cryptocurrency |
3. | CRISPR – Cas9 | Particle Physics |
Which of the pairs given above is/are correctly matched?
[UPSC Civil Services Exam – 2018 Prelims]
(a) 1 and 3 only
(b) 2 only
(c) 2 and 3 only
(d) 1, 2 and 3
Answer: (b)
Explanation:
Belle II experiment – Designed to record data at Super KEKB, asymmetric electron-positron collider with a performance similar or better than Belle or BaBar, the B factory detectors, in a much more severe beam background environment.
Blockchain technology – A blockchain is a digitized, decentralized, public ledger of all cryptocurrency transactions.
CRISPR-Cas9 – A gene-editing technology that can be used for the purpose of altering genetic expression.
