As per Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI), nearly 12 countries in Africa would receive 18 million doses of malaria vaccine (Mosquirix) over the next two years.
About GAVI:

About Malaria Vaccine (RTS,S/AS01):
- Trade name: Mosquirix
- World’s 1st Malaria Vaccine.
- First and only vaccine to show partial protection in young children.
- It is an injectable vaccine targeting P. falciparum.
- It is made up of proteins found on the surface of the Plasmodium falciparum parasites (PFP).
- Protects against infection of the liver with the Hepatitis B virus.

- Mosquito borne blood disease
- Caused by – 6 Plasmodium parasites
- Regions – Tropical and subtropical areas of Africa, South America, Asia.
- Spread through – Infected female Anopheles mosquitoes
