Context
A recent study identified importin-7 (IPO7) as a protein that transports flavivirus core protein across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus.
About Flavivirus
- Belongs to the family Flaviviridae.
- Virion Structure:
- Enveloped, spherical virions with a diameter of 40-60 nanometers.
- Genome consists of non-segmented, single-stranded positive-sense RNA.
- Types:
- Vectors:
- Ticks and other flying insects can also transmit Flaviviruses between humans and animals.
- Non-Vector-Borne Member: Hepatitis C ,only non-vector-borne member of the Flavivirus family, is transmitted exclusively through direct blood-to-blood contact between humans.
About Importin-7 (IPO7)
- A protein
- For transporting molecules into the nucleus of a cell.
- Encoded by the IPO7 gene in humans.
- IPO7 is involved in various cellular processes, including gene expression, DNA repair, and cell cycle regulation.
