Koch-Rajbongshi Community
The Assam Cabinet has decided to drop cases against the Koch-Rajbongshi community in various Foreigners’ Tribunals (FTs).
- Primarily found in Assam, West Bengal, and parts of Bangladesh and Nepal.
- Historical Roots – Descendants of the Kamata kingdom that ruled parts of present-day Assam and Bengal.
- Currently classified as SC in West Bengal and as OBC in Assam.
- They are demanding Scheduled Tribe (ST) status in Assam.
