US authorities have rejected some spice-related exports from an Indian company over salmonella (bacteria) contamination.

Biohacking
Biohacking is picking up in India especially in metro cities like Delhi and Mumbai and also slowly making inroads into Tier II and III cities too.
- Various tips and tricks for enhancing the body’s ability to function at peak performance—and maybe even extend one’s lifespan.
- Includes practice of employing methods drawn from fields like biology, genetics, neuroscience and nutrition to enhance physical or mental performance
- Currently no laws in India that specifically address biohacking.
World Craft City
World Crafts Council International (WCCI) has recently picked Srinagar for mapping its craft clusters before its final nomination as the World Craft City (WCC) from India this year.
- Popular crafts in Kashmir – Papier Mache, Walnut wood carving, Hand-knotted carpet, Kani shawl, Khatamband, Pashmina, Sozni craft
- World Craft City Programme – Launched in 2014 by the World Crafts Council (WCC-International).

Rumi Darwasa
A heritage exhibition was organised on the occasion of World Heritage Day by the Lucknow circle of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
- Often called – Turkish Gate due to its resemblance to Bab-i-Humayun gateway in Turkey.
- Located in – Lucknow
- Constructed in – 1784, during the reign of Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula.
- Architecture – Resembles Mughal, Roman and Turkish styles later known as Awadhi architecture or the Lucknow School of Architecture.
Corporal Punishment
Tamil Nadu Education Department released Guidelines for Elimination of Corporal Punishment.
- Corporal Punishment (CP) – Any punishment in which physical force is used and intended to cause some degree of pain or discomfort, however light. e.g., hitting, kicking, etc.
- Measures against Corporal Punishment in India –
- Article 39 – Directs the State to protect childhood and youth against exploitation and moral and material abandonment.Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act 2009 – Section 17 of the Act prohibits physical and mental harassment and makes it punishable offense.
- National Commission for Protection of Child Rights guidelines for eliminating corporal punishment – Provides effective remedial measures to address CP such as setting up Corporal Punishment Monitoring Cells in every school.
