Liberhan Commission
Liberhan Commission was in news following the Ram Temple consecration ceremony at Ayodhya

- Objective – To probe the Babri Masjid demolition in Ayodhya
- Headed by – Justice M. S. Liberhan
- Significance – With48 extensions, it became the longest Commission of Inquiry in the history of Independent India.
- Finding – Recommended a law providing for exemplary punishment for misusing religion to acquire political power

Two persons from Kutia Kondh Tribe attended Republic Day parade in New Delhi as special guests.

- Society and culture –
- Families are mostly nuclear and patriarchal in character.
- Worshippers of nature.
- Known for their buffalo sacrifice ritual, called “Kedu” to worship their Earth Goddess”.
- Practice Shifting cultivation, or Slash-and-Burn agriculture which they call as dongar chaas or podu chaas.

New notification on Aadhaar released.
- Notification released by EPFO – Removed Aadhar from list of acceptable documents for proof of Date of Birth (DoB).
- Aadhar – Proof of identity but not of citizenship or DoB.
Exercise Steadfast Defender 24
Military exercise Steadfast Defender 2024 started.
- Launched by – North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)
- Significance – NATO’s largest military exercise since the Cold War
- Formation of NATO – In 1949 by Washington Treaty.
- Headquarter – Brussels, Belgium
- Members – 31 (Recently, Finland joined in 2023).
Unfurling and hoisting of National Flag
Was in news following Republic Day celebrations.
- On January 26 – Flag is folded or rolled-up, and attached to the top of a pole.
- It is then unveiled (‘unfurled’) by the President, who does so without pulling it up.
- On August 15 – Flag, positioned at the bottom of the pole
- It is raised (‘hoisted’) by Prime Minister, from the bottom to the top.
- National Flag was adopted on 22 July 1947.
- Ratio of length to the height (width) – 3:2.
