Bioleaching
Miners have extracted gold and other metals from discarded electronics using bioleaching.

- Microorganisms Involved – Heterotrophic bacteria (Pseudomonas, Bacillus) autotrophic bacteria (Thiobacilli), and heterotrophic fungi (Aspergillus, Penicillium)
