Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized 700 kg of Methamphetamine as part of Operation Sagar-Manthan.

  • Launched by – Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)
  • Implementation in coordination with the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard.
  • Objective – To target drug trafficking through maritime routes.

Consumption of kodo millet is considered to be the reason behind the death of wild elephants in Bandhavgar Reserve.

  • Also known as Kodra and Varagu
  • Rich in dietary fiber and minerals like iron, antioxidant.
  • Drought tolerant and has high yield potential, better storage properties.
  • Grown mainly in Deccan Region
  • Ingesting millets harvested after rainfall can result in adverse health conditions

Ministry of External Affairs delegation offers Afghanistan access to Chabahar Port

  • Location – At the mouth of the Gulf of Oman, Iran  
  • Comprises of 2 distinct ports – Shahid Beheshti and Shahid Kalantari.
  • Gives India an alternative route that bypasses Pakistan to reach Afghanistan and Central Asia.

Tamil Nadu Forest Department is experimenting with the removal of invasive senna tora plants in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve

  • An invasive plant species native to Central America
  • Invasive species – A species that is non-native (or alien) to the ecosystem under consideration and whose introduction causes or is likely to cause economic or environmental harm or harm to human health.
  • Example – Lantana camara, Prosopis juliflora

Avian Botulism is considered to be the reason behind mass death of birds in Rajasthan.

  • A serious neuromuscular disease.
  • Caused through a toxin produced by the Bacterium Clostridium Botulinum.
  • Favourable conditions for outbreak – Warmer water temperatures, anoxic (oxygen-deprived) conditions etc.  
  • Can transfer to Humans by consuming infected fish or birds
