Casualties reported during Hori Habba raise concerns about animal and human safety.

Centre launched PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

  • PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana – A rooftop solar scheme for free electricity.
  • Aim – To light up 1 crore households by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month.
  • Significance –
    • Removes cost burden – Provides subsidies directly to people’s bank accounts as well as heavily concessional bank loans.
    • Enhanced convenience – All stakeholders will be integrated into a National Online Portal.

Chinese scientists unveiled a novel HPM weapon, powered by Stirling engines.

  • Stirling engine – An external combustion engine working on the principle of compression and expansion to convert thermal energy into mechanical energy.
  • HPM weapons – Type of Directed Energy Weapon (DEW) system.
  • Directed Energy Weapon – Electromagnetic systems capable of converting chemical or electrical energy to radiated energy and focusing it on a target, resulting in physical damage.
  • Functioning – HPM weapons generate beams of electromagnetic energy that interact with or disrupt electronics in targeted systems.

PM Modi inaugurated BAPS temple

  • Location – UAE
  • Architecture – Nagara style of architecture
  • Features –
  • No ferrous material (which is more vulnerable to corrosion) has been used in the temple.
  • Special pillar called the ‘Pillar of pillars’ which has around 1,400 small pillars carved into it.
  • Buildings surrounding the temple are modern and monolithic, with their colour resembling sand dunes.
  • 7 shikhars (spires) that are representative of the 7 Emirates of the UAE.
