Amphibious Operations

- Provides guidance for conducting Amphibious Operations in the Indian Ocean Region.
- Definition: Attack launched from sea by naval and landing forces, involving landing on a hostile shore with extensive air participation.
- Significance: Crucial for multi-domain operations, showcasing cohesion and integration among Forces.
Exercise Yudh Abhyas
20th Edition: Commenced in Rajasthan in 2024.
- Joint Military Exercise held annually since 2004 between India and the USA.
- Enhances military capability for counter-terrorism operations and defense cooperation through interoperability.
National Statistical Commission (NSC)
Regained with the dissolution of the Standing Committee on Statistics (SCoS) by MoSPI.
- Genesis: Set up in 2005 following the Rangarajan Commission’s recommendations (2001).
- Mandate: Evolve policies, priorities, and standards in statistical matters.
- Ministry: MoSPI.
- Chief Statistician of India: Secretary of the Commission.
- Composition: 4 Members and a Chairperson, each with specialization in statistical fields.
Silicon Carbide
India’s 1st silicon carbide manufacturing facility to be set up in Odisha.
- Silicon Carbide (SiC): Also known as carborundum.
- Properties: High thermal conductivity, excellent mechanical properties, resistance to wear and oxidation.
- Applications: Semiconductor devices, mechanical seals, structural ceramics, heat exchangers, optical mirrors, ballistic armor, etc.
Water Spinach
Technology by Indian Institute of Vegetable Research (IIVR) brings water spinach to farmers.
- About: Native to tropics and subtropics, first domesticated in Southeast Asia.
- Benefits:
- Rich in folic acid (vitamin B9), beta carotene, calcium, vitamins E and C.
- Prevents neural tube defects in unborn children.
- Beneficial for people with anemia due to high iron content.
- Potential as a purifier of aquatic habitats.
