An American company has developed a fuel ANEEL (named after India’s scientist, Dr Anil Kakodkar).

  • A mix Thorium and Uranium of HALEU (High Assay Low Enriched Uranium).
  • HALEU – An enrichment level of 5-20%.
  • Benefits – Used in the existing Pressurized Heavy-Water Reactors (PHWRs) of India’s nuclear fleet, Reduces nuclear waste etc.

A recent study suggests that the sisal leaves could make sanitary napkins more sustainable in India.

  • A species of flowering plant
  • Native to – Southern Mexico
  • Sisal fibre – most important of the leaf fibre group.
  • Used to make twine, cloth, carpets and mescal (a distilled alcoholic beverage).
