Markhor
In rare appearance, Markhor spotted in Kashmir.
- World’s largest wild goat.
- Habitat – Pakistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan.
- In India it is found only in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
- Status – Near Threatened as per IUCN Red List

Bima Sakhi Yojana
PM launches LIC’s ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’
- Objective: Empower women aged 18-70 years by providing them with employment opportunities as insurance agents (Bima Sakhis).
- Eligibility: Women aged 18-70 years who have completed at least Class 10.
- Benefits: Financial support of up to ₹7,000 per month during a 3-year training period. The scheme aims to provide social security and promote financial literacy and insurance awareness.
Ayushman Vay Vandana Card
Senior citizens’ free treatment scheme gets 25 lakh members
- Part of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) expansion.
- Objective: Provide free health cover of ₹5 lakh to all senior citizens aged 70 years and above, irrespective of their socio-economic status.
- Benefits: Covers around 2,000 medical procedures, including pre-existing diseases from day one.
