After Chandrayaan success, Midhani is ready for ISRO’s Gaganyaan

Researchers studying the findings of the Solar Orbiter Aircraft recently announced the detection of picoflare jets.

Picoflare Jets:

  • Small jets of charged particles expelled from the sun’s outer atmosphere.
  • Picoflare jets may be a source of solar winds, which have important effects on the solar system at large as well as on the earth’s magnetic field.
  • “Pico” is an order of magnitude that denotes 10-12, or one trillionth of a unit. These jets from the sun are named so because they carry approximately one-trillionth the energy of the largest flares the sun is capable of producing

Solar Orbiter Aircraft:

  • An international cooperative mission between ESA (the European Space Agency) and NASA
  • Objective – To study how the Sun creates and control the constantly changing space environment throughout the solar system.

RBI has decided to discontinue the Incremental Cash Reserve Ratio (I-CRR) in a phased manner to absorb surplus liquidity generated by various factors such as return of ₹2000 notes etc.

What is I-CRR?

  • Banks are typically required to maintain a certain % (current CRR – 4.5%) of their Net Demand and Time Liabilities as CRR with the RBI.
  • Cash Reserve Ratio is a percentage of Net Demand and Time Liabilities that banks must keep with the central bank (RBI) to control liquidity.
  • In periods of excess liquidity, RBI asks banks to maintain even more liquid cash. It is referred to as I-CRR.

INS Sumedha has recently docked in Egypt to take part in ‘Exercise BRIGHT STAR-23.

BRIGHT STAR-23 –

  • A multilateral U.S. Central Command exercise.
  • India participated in this exercise for the 1st time.

  • UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Located near the Tropic of Cancer makes it ideal for harnessing solar power.
