National Security Advisory Board

Government of India has appointed a new chairman along with 7 new members in the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB)

  • Established in – 1998.
  • Purpose – Advisory body providing independent perspectives on national security issues.
  • Assisted By – National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS).
  • Functions of NSAB –
    • Conducts long-term analysis on national security matters.
    • Provides strategic inputs to the National Security Council (NSC).
    • Recommends policy measures on security-related issues.
    • Contributes to key frameworks like India’s Nuclear Doctrine and Strategic Defence Reviews.
  • Composition – Includes experts from various fields such as Armed forces, Intelligence agencies, Diplomacy, Academia and Civil society
  • Members are appointed by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on the advice of the National Security Advisor (NSA).
