Government of India has appointed a new chairman along with 7 new members in the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB)
National Security Advisory Board (NSAB):
- Established in – 1998.
- Purpose – Advisory body providing independent perspectives on national security issues.
- Assisted By – National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS).
- Functions of NSAB –
- Conducts long-term analysis on national security matters.
- Provides strategic inputs to the National Security Council (NSC).
- Recommends policy measures on security-related issues.
- Contributes to key frameworks like India’s Nuclear Doctrine and Strategic Defence Reviews.
- Composition – Includes experts from various fields such as Armed forces, Intelligence agencies, Diplomacy, Academia and Civil society
- Members are appointed by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on the advice of the National Security Advisor (NSA).
