11th June marked the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Ram Prasad Bismil.

  • A renowned freedom fighter
  • Born on – 11th June, 1897, in Uttar Pradesh
  • Joined the Arya Samaj founded by Dayananda Saraswati
  • Later, got influenced by the ideals of revolutionaries
  • Literature – Known for his cult song Mera rang de Basanti chola”.
  • Death – Hanged on 19th December 1927 at Gorakhpur Jail.
  • Matrivedi – Aimed to organise the youth of the country to fight the British government.
  • One of the chief founders of the Hindustan Republican Association (HRA) along with Sachindra Nath Sanyal and Jadugopal Mukherjee.
  • Involved in the Mainpuri Conspiracy of 1918 
  • Kakori Conspiracy Case, along with Chandrasekhar Azad and Ashfaqulla Khan
    • They were successful in their attempt but were arrested and Bismil and Khan were awarded death sentences.
