Madan Mohan Malaviya:
- Was an educationist, journalist, and freedom activist
- Born on – December 25, 1861, in Uttar Pradesh
- Known as – ‘Mahamana’ and ‘Karmayogi’
- Co-founded the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi in 1916, which was created under the 1915 BHU Act.
- Served as the Vice-Chancellor of BHU from 1919 to 1938
- Served as the President of the Indian National Congress 4 times (1909, 1918, 1932, and 1933).
- One of the founders of the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha, an organization aimed at promoting Hindu values and culture.

- Was the chairman of Hindustan Times from 1924 to 1946. His efforts led to the launch of its Hindi edition, Hindustan Dainik, in 1936.

- Bharat Ratna: Malaviya was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, on December 24, 2014.
