Maharana Pratap (1540–1597):
- Dynasty: Sisodia Rajput clan of Mewar, Rajasthan.
- Birthplace: Kumbhalgarh Fort, Rajasthan.
- Parents: Udai Singh II (Founder of Udaipur) and Jaiwanta Bai.
- Successor: Maharana Amar Singh I.
- Refused to submit to Mughal Emperor Akbar, unlike other Rajput rulers.
- Battle of Haldighati (1576):
- Fought between Maharana Pratap and Akbar’s forces led by Man Singh I of Amber.
- Mughals won, but failed to capture Maharana Pratap.
- Resurgence (Post-1579):
- Akbar’s focus shifted due to rebellions in Bengal & Bihar.
- Maharana Pratap recovered Western Mewar, including Kumbhalgarh, Udaipur, and Gogunda.
- Established a new capital at Chavand near modern-day Dungarpur.
- Died in 1597
