Prime Minister visited Maa Danteshwari Temple in Chhattisgarh.
About Maa Danteshwari Temple:
- It is dedicated to Mahisasuramardini as Danteswari carved on a black stone.
- It is one of the Sakti-pithas (total 51) of India.
- It is located at the confluence of rivers Sankhini and Dankini.
- Constructed by – the rulers of Chindak Nagvanshi during 11th -12th century A.D.
- In the 14th century AD, Annamdev, the brother of Prataprudra from the Kakatiya dynasty, undertook the renovation of this temple.
About Kakatiyas:
- Political successors of the Kalyana Chalukyas.
- Kakatiyas, along with the Hoysalas and Yadavas had announced themselves as rulers independent of the Chalukyas.
- Region ruled – Eastern Deccan region (present day Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, eastern Karnataka and southern Odisha)
- Capital – Orugallu (present day Warangal)
- Major Port – Motupalli (visited by Marco Polo)
- Important rulers –
- Prolla II (1st independent ruler of Kakatiya dynasty)
- Rudradeva (1163-1195) was succeeded by his brother Mahadeva (1195–1198).
- Mahadeva by his son Ganapati (1199–1261) and he had no sons and was succeeded by Rudrama Devi, one of the few queens in Indian history.
- In 1303, Alauddin Khilji invaded the Kakatiya territory which ended up as a disaster for him.
