Mahabodhi Temple:
- Location – Bodhgaya, Bihar
- Built by – Emperor Asoka built the 1st shrine in 3rd BC
- Other Parts of the temple belongs to the post Mauryan period (100 BC)
- Many of the sculptures belong to Pala period.
- Design – Mix of Nagara and Dravida
- Narrow like a nagara temple, rises without curving like a Dravida
- Significance – A UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Temple stands to the east of the Mahabodhi Tree, where Gautam Buddha is believed to have attained nirvana.
