  • Aim – Fostering India’s cultural diplomacy through exchanges with other countries.
  • Head Quarters – New Delhi.
  • Key Responsibilities –
    • Actively participate in the formulation and implementation of policies and programs pertaining to India’s external cultural relations.
    • Since 2015, ICCR has been responsible for coordinating the celebration of International Yoga Day by Indian Missions and Posts abroad.
  • Awards Instituted by ICCR –
    • Distinguished Indologist Award – Honors foreign scholars for their contributions to Indian Studies in areas such as study, teaching, and research.
    • World Sanskrit Award – Recognizes foreign scholars for their efforts in promoting Sanskrit studies.
    • Gisela Bonn Award – Honors the contributions of Gisela Bonn, a renowned German journalist and Indologist, to strengthening Indo-German relations.
