Eminent freedom fighter and nationalist leader Bipin Chandra Pal was remembered on his death anniversary.
Bipin Chandra Pal:
- Leader of the Nationalist movement
- Born in – 1858 in Sylhet (now in Bangladesh).
- One of the triumvirates of the 3 great extremist nationalist freedom fighters, popularly known as “Lal Bal Pal“
- Popularized the concepts of Swadeshi and Swaraj (complete independence).
- Preached ‘composite patriotism’ as against Bal Gangadhar Tilak’s Hindu nationalism.
- Was imprisoned for 6 months in the Bande Mataram sedition case.
- Wrote on the philosophy of Bengal Vaishnavism.
- Important publications – Bande Mataram (daily), New India (Weekly Journal), Hindu Review (Monthly)
- Died on – May 20, 1932 in Kolkata
