Wular Lake:
- Largest freshwater lake in India.
- Located in – Jammu and Kashmir.
- Located at the north end of the Kashmir Valley, north-northwest of Srinagar.
- Lies at an elevation of 1,580 meters.
- Formation – The lake basin is resulted from tectonic activity
- Fed by – Jhelum River.
- Historical Connection – Considered a remnant of the ancient Satisar Lake.
- It contains a small island called ‘Zaina Lank’, constructed by King Zainul-Abi-Din.
- Designated as a Ramsar Site in 1990.
Jhelum River:
- The main waterway of the Kashmir valley.
- Originates at – Verinag Spring in Anantnag.
- Flows via Srinagar and Wular Lake before entering Pakistan.
- Joins the Chenab River near Trimmu, Pakistan.
- Major tributaries – Kishenganga (Neelum), Kunhar
