Kuki-Zo tribes moved against review of ST (Scheduled Tribes) status of certain communities
Kuki-Zo tribes:
- Hill tribes
- Ethic group – found in tri-border
- Tri border – India ( Northeastern states), Myanmar and Bangladesh (Chittagong Hill)
- Tribe status – based on the dialects spoken and their origin
- Lives in a cluster of closely built houses
- Men – wear colourful sangkhol (jacket) and a pheichawm (dhoti)
- Women –heavily ornamented with necklaces, bangles etc.
- Zo – term denotes all the speakers of Kuki-Chin languages
- Brought by the British in 19th century – served as mercenaries (soldier)
- Used as a buffer to protect the valley from regular raids by Naga Tribes
