Ranthambore National Park:
- Location – Rajasthan.
- At the junction of the Aravalli and Vindhya ranges.
- History – Established as Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary in 1955.
- Became a Project Tiger reserve in 1973.
- Declared a national park in 1980, with adjacent forests named Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary and Keladevi Sanctuary.
- Rivers – Bounded by the Banas River to the north and the Chambal River to the south.
- Vegetation – Features dry deciduous forests and open grassy meadows.
- Dominated by the Dhok tree
- Notable for one of India’s largest banyan trees at Jogi Mahal.
- Fauna – Renowned for its population of Royal Bengal Tigers.
- Also hosts leopards, sloth bears, chital (spotted deer), marsh crocodiles etc
