Anamudi Shola National Park

Kerala has secured approval from the National Board for Wildlife to erect a check dam across the Silandhi river using forest land from Anamudi Shola National Park.

  • Location – Kerala (along Western Ghats)
  • Surrounded by Mathikettan Shola National Park, Eravikulam National Park, Pampadum Shola National Park, Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary and the Kurinjimala Sanctuary.
  • River – Pambar River 
  • Tallest peak – Anamudi
  • Flora – Southern subtropical hill forests, southern montane wet temperate forests and moist deciduous forests.
  • Fauna – Elephant, Tiger, Panther, Indian Bison, Nilgiri tahr, Gaur, Spotted Deer, Sambar, etc.
  • Other National Parks in Kerala – 
    • Eravikulam
    • Mathikettan Shola
    • Pambadum Shola
    • Periyar NP
    • Silent Valley NP.
  • Tributary of the Amaravathy river which in turn feeds the Cauvery river.
  • Flows through the Anamudi Shola National Park in Kerala.
  • A dispute going on between Kerala and Tamil Nadu over the construction of the check dam across the River.
