    • Community Approach – Emphasizes community involvement in water management.
    • Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) – Extensive IEC campaigns to promote water conservation and management.
    • Source Sustainability – Includes measures like grey water management, water conservation, and rainwater harvesting.
  • Goals –
    • Har Ghar Jal – Ensure 55 litres of water per person per day to every rural household.
    • Long-term Water Security – Assist States/UTs in planning participatory rural water supply strategies.
  • Components –
    • Household Tap Connections – Aim to provide tap water to every rural household.
    • Public Institutions – Ensure potable water in schools, Anganwadi centres, health centres, etc.
    • Water Quality Management – Implement systems to monitor and maintain water quality.
  • Progress –
    • Coverage – As of August 2024, over 78% of rural households have tap water connections
    • First Achievers – Goa and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu were the first to achieve 100% tap-water access
