Union Government notified Second Phase of PM E-DRIVE Scheme
PM E-DRIVE Scheme:
- Stands for PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme.
- Objective – To promote electric mobility in India by providing fiscal incentives and establishing essential charging infrastructure.
- Nodal Ministry – Ministry of Heavy Industries.
Key Features of the Scheme:
- Subsidies and Incentives – Fiscal incentives for electric two-wheelers, electric three-wheelers, and electric buses.
- Excludes electric cars from direct subsidies, relying instead on lower GST and other measures to support the electric vehicle (EV) sector.
- E-Vouchers – Aadhaar-authenticated e-vouchers for EV buyers to reduce the upfront purchase price.
- Charging Infrastructure – Installation of public charging stations in selected cities and highways.
- Modernization of Test Agencies – Upgradation of test agencies to handle new and emerging technologies.
- Support for E-Buses – Incentives for e-buses through State/City Transport Undertakings (STUs) on an operational expenditure model.
- E-Ambulances and E-Trucks –
- Deployment of electric ambulances
- Incentives for e-trucks, especially for those with a scrapping certificate from authorized Vehicle Scrapping Centres.
