Union Government notified Second Phase of PM E-DRIVE Scheme

  • Stands for PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme.
  • Objective – To promote electric mobility in India by providing fiscal incentives and establishing essential charging infrastructure.
  • Nodal Ministry – Ministry of Heavy Industries.
  • Subsidies and Incentives – Fiscal incentives for electric two-wheelers, electric three-wheelers, and electric buses.
    • Excludes electric cars from direct subsidies, relying instead on lower GST and other measures to support the electric vehicle (EV) sector.
  • E-Vouchers – Aadhaar-authenticated e-vouchers for EV buyers to reduce the upfront purchase price.
  • Charging Infrastructure – Installation of public charging stations in selected cities and highways.
  • Modernization of Test Agencies – Upgradation of test agencies to handle new and emerging technologies.
  • Support for E-Buses – Incentives for e-buses through State/City Transport Undertakings (STUs) on an operational expenditure model.
  • E-Ambulances and E-Trucks
    • Deployment of electric ambulances
    • Incentives for e-trucks, especially for those with a scrapping certificate from authorized Vehicle Scrapping Centres.
