Four projects operationalized under Namami Gange Mission (NGM) 2.0.
Namami Gange Programme:
- An integrated conservation mission, approved as ‘Flagship Programme’ by the Union Government in 2014
- Administered by – Ministry of Jal Shakti
- Originally intendedfor a period up to March 2021.
- However, it was subsequently extended up to 31st March 2026 as NGM 2.0.
- Objective – Effective abatement of pollution and rejuvenation of the River Ganga.
- Implementation Agency – National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) and its state and district counterparts
- Funding – It is a fully central funded initiative.
- United Nations (UN) has recognised the initiative as one of the top 10 World Restoration Flagships
National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG):
- Registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act 1860.
- It is the implementation wing of National Ganga Council (replaced the National Ganga River Basin Authority).
- NGC – Created in 2016 under the River Ganga (Rejuvenation, Protection and Management) Authorities Order, 2016
- Headed by – Prime Minister.
