Centre to clear FAME 3 scheme in 1-2 months
FAME India Scheme:
- Part of – National Electric Mobility Mission Plan.
- Objective – Encourage the adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles by offering upfront incentives on purchase.
- Ministry – Ministry of Heavy Industries
- Technologies Covered – Mild Hybrid, Strong Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, and Battery Electric Vehicles.
Phase I of the Scheme:
- Duration – 2015 to 2019.
- Budget – ₹895 crore.
- Focus Areas – Technology development, demand creation, pilot projects, and charging infrastructure.
Phase II of the Scheme:
- Duration – 2019 to 2024.
- Budget – ₹10,000 crore.
- Focus –
- Electrification of public and shared transportation.
- Incentives for e-Buses, e-3 Wheelers, e-4 Wheeler Passenger Cars, and e-2 Wheelers.
- Creation of charging infrastructure.
