ULPIN (Unique Land Parcel Identification Number):
- Also known as – Bhu-Aadhar
- Launched in – 2021
- Purpose – To provide a 14-digit alpha-numeric identity to each land parcel in India.
- Part of the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP).
- Aims to modernize land record management, reduce disputes, and enhance transparency in land transactions.
- Central sector scheme being implemented by the Department of Land Resources under the Ministry of Rural Development.
- Components of ULPIN – State code, District code, Sub-district code, Village code and Unique plot ID number
- Features –
- Assign a unique ID to each plot for easy identification and record retrieval.
- Create accurate digital land records with details of landowners, plot boundaries, area, and usage.
- Link land records with property registration processes.
- Facilitate online delivery of land record services.
- Assist in government planning by maintaining updated land data.
- Generated using longitude and latitude coordinates of the land parcel.
- 1st state to achieve 100% ULPIN coverage – Andhra Pradesh
- Significance –
- Streamlines and brings uniformity to the process of assigning unique IDs to land parcels across states.
- Permanence – ULPIN remains the same for a land parcel even if it is transferred, sub-divided, or undergoes any change.
