Context:
The Union Cabinet decided to merge all Central schemes in the agriculture sector into 2 new schemes, Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY) and Krishonnati Yojana (KY).
These Schemes are implemented through the State Governments.
Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY):
- Objective – Promote sustainable agriculture.
- Components – Includes 9 schemes such as Soil Health Management, Rainfed Area Development, and Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana.
- States have flexibility to re-allocate funds among components based on specific needs.
Krishonnati Yojana (KY):
- Objective – Address food security and agricultural self-sufficiency in India.
- Components – Includes 9 components like National Food Security & Nutrition Mission and Digital Agriculture Mission.
