About National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN):
- Established in 1980
- Emerged in opposition to the ‘Shillong Accord’, signed by NNC (Naga National Council) and the Indian government.

- Manifesto – Rooted in Socialism for economic progress and a spiritual perspective named ‘Nagaland for Christ’
- NSCN Factions – NSCN (K) and NSCN (I-M)
About Nagas:
- Ethnic group in north-eastern India.
- Various names – Noga, Naka, Hao, Chin, Naga
- Belongs to the Indo-Mongoloid Family.
- No caste system among the Nagas or anyone of the non-Naga tribes.
- Major inhabited Areas – Nagaland, Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Myanmar.
- 16 Naga tribes – Ao, Konyak, Sema, Chakhesang, Angami, Lotha, Sangtam, Phom, Chang, Kheimungan, Yimchunger, Zeilang, Rengma, Tikhir, Mokware, and Chirr.
- 4 non-Naga tribes – Kuki, Kachari, Garo, Mikir.
About Naga Ceasefire Agreement:
- NSCN-IM initiated ceasefire in 1997 during peace talks.
- 2015 – Framework agreement signed with NSCN-IM for Naga political issue.
- NSCN-IM leaders –Isak ChishiS wu, Thuingaleng Muivah
- Recognised Naga history, culture, and sentiments.
- NSCN-IM acknowledges Indian political system.
- Accord envisioned in October 2019 to address all Naga issues.
- Centre entered into a one-year ceasefire agreement – 2021.
