Context:
Railway Protection Force undertook various operations to safeguard railway passengers, properties etc.
Railway Protection Force (RPF):
- Indian Central Armed Police Force in charge of railway protection
- Under The Railway Protection Force Act, 1957
- Ministry – Ministry of Railways
- Aim – Protect and secure railway property, the passenger areas and the passengers themselves
- Origin as ‘Watch and Ward’ set-up of the private railway companies during the British Raj.
- Amended in 1985 to make RPF an armed force.

Satark | Curbing Illegal Goods Transport | Seizure of illegal tobacco products, liquor, unaccounted cash, gold and silver |
