Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has unveiled the ‘Sangam: Digital Twin’ initiative
Sangam: Digital Twin Initiative:
- Launched by – Department of Telecommunications (DoT)
- What is it? – Proof-of-concept (PoC) distributed in 2 stages to be conducted in one of the major cities of India.
- 1st stage – An exploratory phase focusing on clarifying horizons and creative exploration to unleash potential.
- 2nd stage – A practical demonstration phase focusing on specific use cases
- Purpose – To create virtual replicas of physical assets, enabling real-time monitoring, simulation, and analysis.
- Objective – Demonstrate practical implementation of innovative infrastructure planning solutions.
- Features –
- Integrates 5G, IoT, AI, AR/VR, AI native 6G, Digital Twin, and next-gen computational technologies
- Foster collaboration among public entities, infrastructure planners, tech giants, startups, and academia.
Digital Twin Technology:
- Digital Twin technology – Virtual models that are highly detailed and dynamic, mirroring the behavior and performance of their real-world counterparts in real-time.
- Aim – Enable organizations to gain deeper insights, optimize operations, and facilitate innovation across industries.

- Physical Asset
- Virtual Model – Digital representation of the physical asset, built using advanced modeling and simulation techniques.
- Sensors and IoT Devices – To collect real-time data
