Recently, Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) for 2020-21 and 2021-22 was released
Annual Survey of Industries:
- Released by – Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI)
- Objective – to provide a meaningful insight into the dynamics of change in the composition, growth and structure of various manufacturing industries in terms of output, value added, employment, capital formation and a host of other parameters
Key Highlights of Survey:
- Gross Value Added (GVA)
- Grew by 8.8 per cent in 2020-21 (in current prices)
- Manufacturing GVA of the country –
- Maharashtra ranked 1st followed by Gujarat and Tamil Nadu
- Contributed about 53% of the total manufacturing GVA of the country
- Employment sector –
- The labour force participation rate (15 years and above) saw a steady increase, rising from 49.8 % to 57.9 %.
- Top 5 states employing highest number of persons – Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana in both years.
