  • 2 dose vaccine – 1st dose at age of 12 and 2nd after 6 months of 1st dose
  • Highly contagious liver viral infection
  • World hepatitis day – 28th July every year
  • Transmission – fecaloral route (ingestion of contaminated food or water)
  • Virus – hepatotrophic (liver directed)
  • Types of hepatitis – Hepatitis A, B ,C, D and E
  • Vaccines
    • Available for Hepatitis A and B but for Hepatitis C
    • Hepatitis D can be prevented by Hepatitis B immunization, but treatment success rate are low
    • Hepatitis E vaccine available in china but not elsewhere
