Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC):
- Under Ministry of Railways
- A network of broad gauge freight railway lines that exclusively serve freight trains
- Makes the freight service swifter and more efficient.
- 2 Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs)–
- Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) – Ludhiana to Sonnagar (1337 km.)
- Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) – Jawaharlal Nehru Port Terminal (JNPT) to Dadri (1506 km)
Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC):
- Passes through 6 states– Punjab, Haryana, UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal
- Other corridors-
- North-South corridor – Srinagar to Kanyakumari
- East-West corridor – Silchar to Porbandar
