  • A network of broad gauge freight railway lines that exclusively serve freight trains
  • Makes the freight service swifter and more efficient. 
  • 2 Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs)
    • Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) – Ludhiana to Sonnagar (1337 km.)
    •  Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) – Jawaharlal Nehru Port Terminal (JNPT) to Dadri (1506 km)
  • Passes through 6 states– Punjab, Haryana, UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal
  • Other corridors-
    • North-South corridor –  Srinagar to Kanyakumari
    • East-West corridor –  Silchar to Porbandar
