Gujarat topped the DPIIT’s list of best-performing States in developing startup ecosystems in India
States’ startup ranking:
- Launched in – 2018
- Released by – Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry
- Aim – To build a robust Start-up ecosystem in the country for nurturing innovation
- 5 categories of ranking – Best performers, Top performers, Leaders, Aspiring leaders and Emerging startup ecosystems
Key Findings:
- Best Performers – Gujarat, Kerala and Karnataka
- Top Performers – Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Telangana
India’s Status:
- 3rd largest start up eco system in the world
- US and China are in the top two positions
- 111 Unicorns are present in the country (startup company valued at over $1 billion are called Unicorns)
