Madhya Pradesh gets approval for PM MITRA textile park project.
PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Scheme:
- Objective – To develop integrated textile parks with world-class infrastructure, reduce logistics costs, and enhance competitiveness in the textile sector.
- Ministry – Ministry of Textiles (MoT)
- Implementation – By Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) which will be jointly owned by State and Central government.
- Key Features –
- Integrated Value Chain – Covers spinning, weaving, processing, printing, garment manufacturing, and accessories.
- Plug-and-Play Facilities – Ready-to-use infrastructure for textile units.
- Greenfield & Brownfield Projects –
- Greenfield parks: Financial support up to ₹800 crore.
- Brownfield parks: Financial support up to ₹500 crore.
- Competitive Incentive Support (CIS) – Up to ₹300 crore per park to incentivize early operationalization.
- Approved Parks – 7 parks approved across Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.
- Significance –
- Boost to Textile Sector – Strengthens India’s position as a global textile hub2.
- Employment Generation – Direct and indirect job creation.
- FDI Attraction – Encourages foreign investments in the textile industry.
- Environmental Sustainability – Includes facilities like Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) plants
