13th edition of exercise ‘Ekuverin’ has commenced in Maldives.

  • A bilateral annual military exercise between India and Maldives
  • Conducted alternatively in India and Maldives.

National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences celebrated its 50th Institute Day.

  • Established in – 1972 (Bengaluru)
  • Objective – Delivering unparalleled patient care, conducting pioneering research, and imparting cutting-edge training.
  • Status – Declared Deemed University (1994), conferred status of ‘Institute of National Importance’ (2012) through a separate act of Parliament.
  • Nodal centre for the Tele MANAS (Tele mental health Assistance and Nationally Actionable Plan through States) programme.

President inaugurated an international conference on Unani medicines on Unani Day (11th February).

  • A traditional healing system that originated in Greece and was popularised by Arab and Persian scholars.
  • Based on the concept of balance in the body’s 4 humors i.e., blood, phlegm (mucus), yellow bile, and black bile, that is central to diagnosing and treating illnesses. 
  • Treatment under Unani aims to restore this balance through various methods.
  • One of the 6 components under AYUSH
    • Others are Ayurveda, Yoga, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa, Homeopathy

Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying inaugurated the 14th Asian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum (AFAF) at New Delhi.

  • A global fisheries and aquaculture conference held every 3 years by the Asian Fisheries Society (AFS).
  • Vision – Brings together scientists, researchers, and industry experts to discuss challenges, trends, and innovations in the sector.
  • Headquarters – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
  • India hosted AFAF for the 2nd time

A cow of the Ongole breed, has set a record in Brazil by fetching 41 crores at an auction.

  • Also called – Nellore breed
  • Belongs to – Andhra Pradesh.
  • Other Important indigenous breeds – Gir (Gujarat), Hallikar (Karnataka), Khillari (Maharashtra), Tharpakar (Rajasthan), and Deoni (Andhra Pradesh).
