Uttarakhand to host 38th edition of National Games from January 28
National Games:
- A multi-sport event organized by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to bring together athletes from across India.
- Though initially envisioned to be a biennial event, due to logistical and procedural issues they have been held with varying gaps over the years.
- 1st National Games was held in 1924 in Lahore.
- 38th Edition (current event) will be hosted by Uttarakhand
- Competition Structure – It will feature 32 sporting disciplines for competitive events.
- In addition, 4 demonstration sports – Kalaripayattu, Yogasana, Mallakhambh, and Rafting – will be included
- Symbols –
- Logo – Highlights Uttarakhand’s Himalayan peaks, the Ganga River, and its biodiversity.
- Mascot – Mouli, inspired by the bird Himalayan Monal
- Tagline for the games is “Sankalp Se Shikhar Tak” (from resolution to zenith).
