Ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW) has designated snakebite cases and deaths as a ‘notifiable disease’.

  • A disease that must be reported to government authorities by law.
  • Responsibility of notifying any disease and the implementation lies with the state government.
  • WHO’s International Health Regulations require reporting of certain diseases to aid global surveillance.
  • Examples include AIDS, hepatitis, dengue, etc.  

India has been re-elected to U.N. Peacebuilding Commission for 2025–2026.

  • Created in 2005 to support peace efforts in conflict-affected countries.
  • Composition – Composed of 31 Member States elected from the General Assembly, Security Council, and Economic and Social Council.
  • Functions:
  • Advises on and proposes integrated strategies for post-conflict peacebuilding and recovery.
  • Promotes coordinated approaches to peacebuilding within the UN system.
